The season of gin & tonics is quickly approaching, and what better way to get ready than to celebrate International Gin & Tonic Day?
A simple classic, this cocktail is the perfect patio sipper for a warm, sunny afternoon.
Though it is a simple drink, the devil is in the detail. Below are our top 3 tips on perfecting this delicious libation.
1. Don't skimp on the gin!
There are only 3 ingredients in this drink: gin, tonic, and lime. If you go for cheap gin, your going to taste it. Opt for a gin you'd be willing to drink straight.
2. Chill your tonic
Ice helps, but if it is fighting warm tonic and warm gin, you're going to end up with a watery, iceless drink really fast. Keep your tonic in the fridge, so that the ice has less heavy lifting to do.
3. Use a Collins glass
The taller and narrower the glass, the longer your bubbles will be preserved. A rocks glass is perfectly acceptable, but for optimal fizz, go for the tall and thin Collins glass ~2/3 filled with cracked ice.
Happy arbitrary international holiday. Enjoy!
