Nog Your Average Egg Nog

Two Types of Eggnog People - Adam Ellis Buzzfeed Comic

The holiday season can be tough for lactose-intolerant cocktail lovers. Most "holiday" cocktails are riddled with Bailey's, cream, or some other milky concoction that challenge even the strongest of lactose tolerances.

Though we love ourselves a classic cup of nog, we appreciate that tender tummies need some tasty inclusive cocktail concoctions.

Below is our favorite Nog recipe, modified to be 100% lactose-free, and 200% delicious. The natural creaminess of the Coconut Milk and cream maintain the integrity of this classic cocktail.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Ingredients

4 egg yolks

1/3 cup sugar plus 1 tablespoon

3 ounces Bourbon or Rum (this can be modified based on how strong you like your drink)

1 pint Coconut Milk

1 cup Coconut Cream

1 teaspoon Nutmeg

4 egg whites

Directions

In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the coconut milk, coconut cream, bourbon or rum and nutmeg and stir to combine.

Place the egg whites in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.

Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve over ice with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
